Painting has always been my way to find peace in the word. I have a very mindful creative practice, it is like meditation for me. I painted this artwork as I was preparing to have a thymectomy. This surgery was going to have to take place in a different state. Hubby and I made the hard decision not to take our then 6 year old with us. Cardiothoracic Surgery recovery isnt pretty and I didnt want him to see me so vulnerable.
I was trying to come to terms with all the big feelings and this beautiful, calm and peacful painting emerged. As I prepped the canvas and mixed the paints I was able to let all the worries for the future slip away. I was immersed in the beautiful flowing interplay between the ultramarine and the turquoise, the lovely flowing lines and the delicale movement and lacing.
This artwork helped me find my calm and is a beautiful representation of the healing power of art.
